According to a report by Vanguard on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, Ned Nwoko has vowed to seek legal redress over the outcome of the senatorial primary election conducted by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He maintained that the available results and evidence gathered from several wards indicated that he emerged victorious and that the officially announced outcome did not reflect what truly happened during the exercise.
Speaking during an interview on Arise TV, Nwoko rejected the declaration of Ifeanyi Okowa as the winner of the senatorial primary.
According to him, the figures eventually released by the party were different from the actual votes cast by members across various wards during the election process.
The senator further explained that the process took a different direction while the primary election was ongoing.
He claimed that party officials allegedly instructed that results should no longer be announced at the ward level. Instead, he said all results were moved to the party's national headquarters in Abuja, where the final collation and announcement would take place.
Nwoko also questioned the credibility of the figures that were eventually made public. He argued that there were visible differences between the turnout seen in videos recorded during the exercise and the numbers contained in the official results.
According to him, the final outcome did not accurately represent what happened in several areas where voting took place.
Despite his dissatisfaction with the conduct and outcome of the primary election, Nwoko stressed that his loyalty to the APC remained unchanged.
He stated that he had no plans to work against the party and emphasized that his concern was centered on ensuring that the wishes of party delegates and supporters were respected.
He also stated that he would not accept any position from the party leadership if such a decision contradicted what he described as the genuine mandate given to him by party members.
The senator expressed confidence that Bola Tinubu would intervene in the matter and ensure that fairness and justice prevail regarding the disputed primary election.
