Court Dismisses FG’s Objection as Nnamdi Kanu’s Documents Are Declared Valid

At the resumed hearing of the trial involving the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, the Federal Government’s lead counsel, Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN), on Tuesday urged the court to disregard certain documents filed by the defendant, describing them as invalid and lacking legal weight.

According to Punch’s report on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, Awomolo argued that the documents served by Kanu’s legal team were not properly endorsed, signed, or certified by the court, and therefore held no evidential value.

He maintained that legal procedures require all court documents to be duly signed and endorsed before they can be admitted as valid evidence.

The senior lawyer asked the court to strike out the documents, allow him to adopt his final written address, and set a date for judgment in the case.

However, the presiding judge dismissed the objection raised by the Federal Government’s counsel.

The court confirmed that the disputed documents were properly signed and filed, with proof of payment attached, thereby affirming their authenticity.

With the ruling, Kanu’s legal team retained the right to rely on the documents as part of their defense.

The development marks another key moment in Kanu’s ongoing trial, which has continued to attract both national and international attention.

The IPOB leader faces charges bordering on treasonable felony and other alleged offenses.
