CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, the new Commissioner of Police (CP) for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, has warned police officers against extorting money from road users at checkpoints
In a video shared by ESET TV, Sanusi said he often goes out at night with only his driver to monitor police activities.
He stated that any officer caught extorting money from drivers will face serious consequences. He said some police officers greet every driver they see and demand money from them.
CP Sanusi said these police officers sometimes unknowingly greet armed robbers, kidnappers, or “one chance” criminals and don't search them. He said he will no longer tolerate such actions
In CP Sanusi's words: "They continue to greet everybody that they see, they will even greet armed robbers, kidnappers and even one-chance people that have victims in their vehicle they will greet them"
