During Acting, When A Woman And A Man Lay Together, It's Not Real, There's A Pillow There -Jumoke Eletekete

Veteran Nigerian actress Jumoke Eletekete has spoken out about the misconceptions surrounding intimate scenes in Nollywood films, stating that such portrayals are often misunderstood by the public.

She emphasized that what appears on screen is far from reality and is carefully staged to maintain professionalism.

In an interview on BEHIND THE FAME, Eletekete explained that many viewers wrongly assume that romantic scenes between actors are real, when in fact, precautions are taken to ensure boundaries are respected.

She pointed out that props like pillows are used to create distance between actors during such scenes, even when the camera suggests otherwise.

Eletekete also noted that some actors are reluctant to take on such roles, and in some cases, she has had to cover expenses that were traditionally expected of male colleagues.

She expressed frustration over the judgment actors face from the public, especially when people lack understanding of how film scenes are produced.

Her words, "They do talk about actors in a wrongful way. If you don't understand, you won't know. Maybe a woman and a man lay together—it's not real. That man isn't laying on the woman; there's a pillow there. Is it even possible when there are lots of people there? If some people are asked to play such roles, they will be complaining. Sometimes, I will even pay some money that men are supposed to pay."
