The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has shared a powerful story about a difficult period the church once faced in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city.
Speaking during a recent Holy Ghost Service held in Abuja, the respected cleric recalled how a former government minister who was in charge of the Federal Capital Territory ordered the demolition of several RCCG churches many years ago.
According to Pastor Adeboye, no fewer than 15 Redeemed churches were pulled down within a short space of two weeks.
While sharing the experience with worshippers, Pastor Adeboye explained that the impact of the demolitions was not immediately felt because RCCG already had many branches across the city and beyond.
In his words, the church continued to move forward despite the setback, trusting God through the difficult time.
The RCCG leader used the story to encourage believers not to focus on challenges or opposition but to understand that God’s plans cannot be stopped by human actions.
He stressed that even when things appear difficult, God is always working behind the scenes.
Pastor Adeboye also pointed to how the situation in Abuja has completely changed over the years. He noted that the last Holy Ghost Service held in the city recorded a massive turnout, so large that it felt like a full church congress.
For him, this growth was clear evidence that resistance against God’s work does not last forever.
He told the congregation that the increase in attendance and spiritual impact showed that God’s presence had grown stronger in the area, even in a place where the church once faced serious opposition.
While addressing worshippers, Pastor Adeboye spoke strongly about the power of praise.
He explained that praise is not just singing songs but a spiritual tool that can bring change, growth, and breakthrough in people’s lives.
Quoting from the book of Psalms, he declared an end to stagnation and slow progress.
He assured believers that delays in their lives would give way to speedy advancement if they learned to praise God sincerely.
According to him, spending even one hour praising God can revive areas of life that have remained stagnant for years.
He challenged worshippers to stop waiting for perfect conditions before praising God and instead focus on trusting Him at all times.
In a surprising moment during the service, Pastor Adeboye announced that there would be no altar call.
He explained that genuine praise would naturally bring about inner change, salvation, and transformation without the need for a formal call.
He encouraged everyone present to create their own personal moments of worship.
Instead of waiting for the choir or the lead singer, he asked worshippers to sing their own songs from the heart.
He described the combination of individual voices lifted in praise as a “joyful noise” that touches heaven.
Pastor Adeboye concluded by assuring believers that consistent praise brings divine intervention.
He encouraged them to praise God even in difficult moments, reminding them that praise has the power to turn situations around and cause enemies to defeat themselves.
