We Have Alpha Jets, L-39s And Our Helicopters Were On Standby, They Were Covering The Area -Atolagbe

Former Operation Safe Haven Commander (Rtd) General Anthony Atolagbe has confirmed that the Nigerian Air Force played an active role in supporting the recent United States airstrikes against terrorists in Sokoto State.

Speaking on Channels TV, General Atolagbe addressed questions about Nigeria's involvement during the American military operation.

"People were asking that what were the Nigerian Armed Forces also doing when America were making those airstrikes? We have Alpha Jets, L-39s, and our helicopters.
Also, they were on standby, and they were also covering the area, doing some reconnaissance around the area to prevent any interruption or any disturbances to the operation. So, it was truly a collaboration," he explained.

The retired general noted that both American and Nigerian governments have indicated more operations are planned.

He highlighted the broader context of international security cooperation in combating terrorist organizations.

"What people need to understand is that security, especially when it comes to a widespread terrorist organization like ISIS, ISWAP, and the rest of them, is not limited to one country," General Atolagbe stated.

He pointed out that these groups operate across multiple regions, making international collaboration essential.

Addressing Nigeria's military capacity, he affirmed the country possesses necessary resources to combat terrorism.
