According to a report by The Punch on Sunday, Mrs. Khairat Bello, daughter of the late renowned Islamic scholar, Alhaji Muyideen Bello, shared heartfelt reflections about her father in an interview with The Punch, portraying him as a courageous preacher, a devoted family man, and someone whose entire existence was rooted in truth, humility, and service to others.
She said his discipline, kindness, humility, and deep wisdom still shape the family’s values long after his passing.
Recalling one of her fond memories, she narrated a time when he secured a contract to supply toasted bread every morning to the staff of a company—back when toasted bread was uncommon.
Despite his tight schedule, her father always joined them to ensure the work was completed promptly and efficiently.
When asked whether he remained social despite his demanding responsibilities, she said he was extremely outgoing.
She added that he had an exceptional memory—so sharp that he could meet someone once and recognize them ten years later, recalling their previous conversation word-for-word.
If their earlier discussion had ended abruptly, he would continue from the exact point where it stopped.
She said he showed the same level of attentiveness at home. Even if a conversation with his children was left incomplete for months, he would remember exactly where it ended.
According to her, he spent almost his entire day attending to people, leaving very little time for himself.
Continuing, she said, “I remember a doctor visiting the house and warning him, ‘Baba, no more Lipton tea.’ After they left, he told us he only kept quiet because they were guests. Then he asked, ‘Why shouldn’t I drink Lipton tea?’ and continued taking it.”
She explained that he often preferred tea because it was fast and convenient, especially due to his frequent travels.
She said he was so sociable and so focused on responding to people’s needs that he regularly overlooked his own personal well-being.
