FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has revealed that during a recent protest, some workers verbally abused him, insisting that Abuja is not Rivers State, his home state.
Addressing the situation in a video shared by Voice TV Nigeria, Wike emphasized that while Abuja is indeed not Rivers State, he remains the authority in charge there.
He made it clear that his administration will not be hindered or intimidated by anyone.
Wike recounted that he heard the workers outside shouting and criticizing him, claiming the Federal Capital Territory does not belong to him.
In response, he stated that regardless of the location, he holds responsibility and authority over the territory.
He further insisted that his administration will continue its work without obstruction, warning against attempts to stagnate or blackmail it.
The minister also addressed political challenges directly, asserting that those interested in opposing him should do so openly rather than resorting to indirect attacks or protests.
He encouraged political opponents to confront him face-to-face if they intend to challenge him, signaling a readiness to engage in transparent political discourse.
Wike’s statements underline his determination to lead decisively, maintain control, and ensure that administrative duties are carried out effectively in the FCT, irrespective of any dissent from workers or critics.
He reaffirmed that his focus is on governance and progress, leaving no room for disruption or intimidation in the execution of his responsibilities.
