The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has responded to Ohanaeze Ndigbo President Senator John Mbata's claim that he is semi-illiterate, reminding Mbata that he never considered him uneducated when seeking government contracts for his company.
Speaking in a media coverage by AIT News, Wike recalled their business interactions. "When I was signing contracts for your company, you didn't know I was semi-illiterate.
When you were coming to my office every day, I have the clips of how you were praising a semi illiterate. When you tell people the truth, they become angry," he said.
The FCT Minister reaffirmed his political stance against Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara's second term ambitions, stating that no amount of criticism would change the decision.
"If you like abuse me or not, I said we have taken a decision in this state and nothing will happen other than what we have said. It's not about money. We need money but we cannot sell our conscience," he stated.
Wike also addressed Mbata's additional claims that he once washed cars for the senator and received educational support from him. The minister responded by highlighting his political achievements despite such humble beginnings.
He noted that the alleged car washer became council chairman when others failed to secure the position, served as Minister of State for Education, and governed one of Nigeria's most important states for eight years, stating that his rise from modest circumstances demonstrates capability rather than deficiency.
