Social media platforms were awash with reactions on Friday after images showing newly acquired ambulances for hospitals in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) began circulating online.
The photos, which quickly drew public attention, highlighted recent efforts by the FCT administration to strengthen emergency healthcare services in Abuja.
The images were shared on the official X (formerly Twitter) account of Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
Olayinka made the photographs public on Thursday, January 29, 2026, sparking conversations among users who praised and debated the development.
The photos captured moments from the commissioning ceremony held in Abuja, where the FCT Minister, a former governor of Rivers State, was seen alongside government officials and stakeholders formally unveiling the vehicles.
The event marked the official deployment of the ambulances for use in public hospitals across the capital city.
Following the release of the images, Olayinka explained that the ambulances were procured as part of the administration’s efforts to improve healthcare delivery and emergency response within the FCT.
He noted that the vehicles were designed to meet modern medical standards and would support hospitals in responding more efficiently to critical situations.
In a statement shared on his verified X account, Olayinka wrote:
“FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, commissions 12 fully equipped ambulances for the use of hospitals in Abuja.”
The announcement drew mixed but largely positive reactions from social media users, many of whom commended the initiative as a step toward addressing long-standing challenges in emergency medical services within the nation’s capital.
