If APC Dont Have Humility To Admit What They’re Doing Is Not Working; How Can They Solve It—Abdullahi

The National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has called for a reassessment of governance strategies, expressing concerns over what he described as worsening living conditions and a lack of responsiveness to public realities.

Abdullahi, a former Minister of Youth Development and Sports under former President Goodluck Jonathan, made the remarks during an interview on Arise Television on Saturday, March 28, 2026.

Addressing the current state of governance, he questioned ongoing policy approaches, stating, “So what are they telling us?”

He continued by highlighting what he described as a reluctance to acknowledge challenges, saying, “And you see, if they don’t have the humility to admit that what they are doing is wrong, that it is not working, how can they even begin to solve it?”

Abdullahi further raised concerns about what he termed a focus on self-appraisal, stating, “If they are caught in this self-celebration, how do we even hope that when they come back, they will embrace a different approach?” He added, “And that’s why we’re saying no, we can’t continue like this. That ADC is providing.”

Emphasising the position of his party, Abdullahi stated, “We’re not misunderstanding anything.” He then shifted attention to the experiences of citizens, saying, “It’s the president that needs to understand that Nigerians are actually suffering.”

He continued, “The more Nigerians are suffering today than ever before.” Referencing the basis of his claims, Abdullahi stated, “Look, these figures I’m giving you are not manufactured by the African Democratic Congress.”

He added, “These are publicly available data.” Providing further context, he said, “And I’m telling you that, okay, I’ll give you another example.”

Abdullahi also addressed remarks attributed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating, “The president said we are misunderstanding what they are doing and we don’t understand and all that.”

He concluded by noting the public reaction, saying, “Today, as I speak to you, Nigerians don’t even know how they can respond to what the president is saying.”
