Corps Member Killed After He Was Caught In Crossfire Gun Battle Between Soldiers And Alleged Robbers

According to a report by the Punch News on Sunday, April 27, 2026, Abdulsamad Jamiu, a serving corps member in Abuja has been killed after he was caugyin crossfire gun battle that happened between soldiriand alleged robbers in Dei-Dei area.

Nigerian Army spokesperson Odunola Olawuyi said troops with the Army’s Quick Response Group responded to a distress call about an armed robbery while on routine night patrol in the area. 

When the troops arrived, they came under gunfire from the fleeing armed robbers, sparking a brief, intense exchange. During the firefight, Mr Jamiu was caught in the crossfire.

Olawuyi added that the troops worked to secure the area and protect residents, but the corps member died from his injuries. 

The military described the incident as tragic, noting the situation was volatile as troops tried to repel the attackers and safeguard the community.
