A video that was posted on the official X account of Sahara Reporters has captured the moment Nigerian lawyer and human rights activist, Femi Falana was saying that the term "status quo ante bellum" was used to deceive people.
He made the statement while reacting to the removal of the names of leaders of the African Democratic Congress, ADC on the portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
In the video that surfaced online, Femi Falana stated that the term status quo ante bellum was not interpreted properly by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Femi Falana said what it means is that the party should maintain the status quo before there was dispute.
According to Femi Falana;
"They used status quo ante bellum to deceive us, what it means is that before the dispute, who was in charge? it's David Mark. But the word has now been mis interpreted to favour the ruling party".
