As reported by The Times of Israel on April 9, 2026, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh has dismissed speculation surrounding the condition and authority of Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, emphasizing that he remains fully active and firmly in charge of state affairs.

Speaking on Thursday, Khatibzadeh stated that Khamenei “is well and in full health, is present in his office, and is in fact in control of everything.”

The remarks come amid growing rumors and uncertainty regarding the leadership structure in Tehran, with some reports suggesting possible instability at the highest level of government.

Khatibzadeh pushed back strongly against such claims, insisting that the Supreme Leader continues to perform his duties without interruption and maintains full oversight of national affairs and decision-making processes.

Observers note that the government’s swift clarification reflects concern over the potential impact of such speculation on both domestic confidence and international perception.

By reaffirming Khamenei’s authority so directly, Iranian officials appear keen to project stability at a time of heightened regional tensions and ongoing diplomatic challenges facing the country.
