Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the former Vice President of Nigeria, has shared a personal experience that he claims altered his perspective on alcohol and marked a significant turning point in his spiritual journey.
In a video posted to his official YouTube channel, Osinbajo reminisced, "One Sunday after I had delivered a sermon in church, I went to a bar to get some booze."
He said that the incident took place at a time when he was heavily engaged in conducting Christian fellowship meetings and when many people in his environment saw him as a spiritual leader.
He claims that he chose to visit a restaurant to buy himself some alcohol after completing his preaching commitment that Sunday.
But upon entering the establishment, he saw that many of the patrons who had been drinking quickly started to hide their bottles and glasses as soon as they saw him.
He was taken aback by their response and chose to inquire as to why they had abruptly covered up their beverages.
The guy replied that they respected him as a religious figure and didn't feel at ease consuming alcohol in front of him.
The response, he remarked, immediately caused him to consider his behavior and the role model he was setting for others.
He said that the incident taught him that, particularly when others look up to someone, not all of their freedoms are always advantageous.
In addition to addressing leadership, personal decisions, and the silent expectations that people have of those they respect, his remarks have also brought up more general discussions about these
