2027: I'll Put My Money On Atiku, Amaechi, Hayatu-Deen And Defend Every Single One Of Them—Abdullahi

Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has declared that he remains neutral in the party’s presidential race and will defend all the frontline aspirants equally as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.

Abdullahi made the statement while reacting to speculations about which of the leading aspirants he personally supports within the party.

According to a video posted on the official YouTube channel of Arise News on Monday, May 25, 2026, the ADC spokesman addressed the issue during a live interview while discussing the party’s ongoing direct primary election process.

The presidential contest within the ADC currently involves prominent political figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Rivers State governor and former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and technocrat Muhammad Hayatu-Deen.

Speaking during the interview, Abdullahi insisted that his role as the spokesperson of the party requires him to remain impartial and support all aspirants fairly.

In his words: “I will put my money on the three of them and defend every single one of them because I speak for the party as the face and voice of the party.”

He explained that the leadership of the ADC is determined to ensure that all candidates are given equal opportunities throughout the primary election process.

According to him: “Our responsibility is to provide a level playing ground for everybody and ensure that the process remains transparent.”

Abdullahi further stated that the presence of experienced and influential politicians within the race reflects the growing confidence many Nigerians have in the ADC as a political platform ahead of the next election cycle.

In his words: “The fact that people of this calibre are contesting under ADC shows that Nigerians are beginning to see the party as a serious alternative.”

The ADC spokesman dismissed claims that competition among the aspirants could divide the party, insisting that the internal contest is a healthy democratic exercise rather than a crisis.

According to him: “Democracy is about competition and people expressing their ambitions freely. That is what we are seeing in the ADC.”

He also stressed that the party leadership would not interfere in the choice of delegates and party members participating in the direct primary process.

In his words: “Nobody is going to impose a candidate on members of this party. The people will decide.”

Abdullahi added that all three aspirants possess qualities and experiences that make them strong contenders ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

According to him: “Each of them brings something valuable to the table, and that is why the decision is not an easy one.” he added.
