Media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Lere Olayinka, has mocked the resignation of activist and politician, Omoyele Sowore, as National Chairman of the African Action Congress.
Reacting through his X account on Tuesday, Olayinka described Sowore as the “permanent” chairman and presidential candidate of the party. He sarcastically suggested that after the 2027 presidential election, Sowore would return to reclaim the party’s leadership position.
Olayinka also mocked Sowore’s past election performance, claiming he would secure his “usual 14k votes” in the next election.
The party confirmed that Samuel Ajeigbe had been appointed as the new National Chairman.
Sowore secured the AAC presidential ticket during the party’s primary held in Abuja, where delegates and party leaders unanimously endorsed him as the candidate.
Speaking after receiving the party’s flag, Sowore said the AAC remained committed to building a better Nigeria free from corruption, insecurity, and poor governance.
He also criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress, accusing it of incompetence and misleading Nigerians ahead of the 2027 elections.
In Olayinka's words, "After he gets his usual 14k votes, he will come and take his chairmanship back. Permanent AAC Chairman, Permanent AAC Presidential candidate."
