According to a report by Nigerian Tribune on Sunday, May 31, 2026, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has announced a 31-day programme of project commissioning across Abuja to mark the third anniversary of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
According to the minister, the extensive commissioning exercise will showcase a wide range of infrastructure and development projects completed under his leadership in the FCT.
He stated that the initiative is intended to demonstrate the progress recorded in the territory and highlight the administration’s commitment to transforming the nation’s capital.
Wike made the announcement while speaking at a political luncheon in Port Harcourt, where he outlined several achievements recorded in the FCT since assuming office.
He noted that the President’s commitment to improving public infrastructure has created an enabling environment for the execution of major projects aimed at enhancing the quality of life for residents of the capital city.
According to the minister, the month-long commissioning programme will feature the unveiling of major road networks, public utilities, and urban renewal projects spread across different parts of the Federal Capital Territory.
He explained that the projects are designed to improve transportation, expand access to essential services, and modernise critical infrastructure within Abuja.
Wike added that the developments form part of a broader effort to reposition the city and meet the growing needs of its population.
The minister also dismissed criticisms directed at his administration, maintaining that the results achieved in the FCT speak for themselves.
He challenged critics to assess the scale and quality of ongoing projects, insisting that the transformation taking place in Abuja is visible and measurable.
According to him, the rapid pace of development in the territory reflects purposeful governance and a determination to deliver tangible benefits to residents.
He said, “Anybody from another state who is trying to destroy Rivers State, the person will have problems… You put your hand, you get fire.”
