The husband of an abducted school principal was overcome with emotion as Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, visited Esiele Yawota Community in Orire Local Government Area to sympathize with families affected by a recent bandit attack.
During the visit, Governor Makinde met with residents and victims' relatives following the abduction of staff and students from schools in the community.
One of the most emotional moments occurred when the governor consoled Professor Wole Alamu, whose wife, the principal of Community Grammar School, was among those kidnapped by the attackers.
Photographs from the visit showed the distraught professor breaking down in tears as Makinde offered words of comfort and reassurance to him and other affected families.
The governor assured residents that the state government was working closely with security agencies to secure the safe release of all those abducted and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Makinde's visit comes days after armed bandits reportedly stormed the community, targeting three schools and abducting several teachers and pupils. The attack also claimed the life of a teacher, further deepening concerns over security in the area.
Addressing community members, the governor reiterated his administration's commitment to protecting lives and property across the state, while promising that every effort would be made to ensure the victims return safely to their families.
Residents who received the governor expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of solidarity during a difficult period for the community.
The incident has continued to attract widespread concern, with many Nigerians calling for stronger measures to address the growing threat of kidnappings and attacks on schools across the country.
