The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has delivered a strongly worded address at a Rainbow Coalition event in Rivers State, outlining his political position and responding to criticisms from opponents ahead of the 2027 political season.
Speaking at the event, which was aired on NTA Network News on Saturday, May 30, 2026, Wike dismissed allegations against his political camp and maintained that his supporters remained focused despite opposition attacks.
The former Rivers State governor used the occasion to reject claims that his political structure was influenced by powerful hidden interests, insisting that his group operates independently and is not controlled by any so-called political cabal.
He further stated, “So you cannot be our messenger.”
Wike went on to criticize what he described as the insincerity of some political actors, alleging that certain individuals publicly attack others only to privately maintain cordial relationships with them.
According to him, “These are people, when you see them on national television, the next day they call you and say forget that one I dey talk for television. You are still my friend.”
The FCT Minister suggested that he does not engage in such political conduct and prefers to be direct in his dealings with people.
He said, “I don’t get talked down to. Many talk to me I don’t talk to.”
Wike also used the event to signal that his political camp was preparing for a new phase of political engagement ahead of future elections.
He declared that the strategy his group intends to adopt would be unlike anything previously witnessed in Nigeria's political landscape.
According to him, “The style of politics, the kind of campaign we will run this time has never happened in this country.”
While he did not provide extensive details about the planned approach, the statement drew attention from supporters and political observers, many of whom interpreted it as a sign of an aggressive and unconventional campaign strategy ahead of the next electoral cycle.
The minister maintained that his political family remains united and prepared for future contests despite criticisms from opponents. He argued that political adversaries have continued to underestimate the strength and influence of his supporters.
Wike stated, “They think they know us, but they do not know us. When the time comes, they will understand what we are capable of doing politically.”
He further urged his supporters to remain committed and avoid distractions from criticism or political propaganda.
According to him, “Do not be bothered by what people say. Stay focused and continue to work for the success of our political family.” he added.
