There Is No basis For Comparing Obi with Gov Soludo; Their Administrations Are Not The Same — Okoye

In a recent interview on News Central TV, politi Chidi Okoye, a member of the NDC, addressed ongoing debates comparing the administrations of two former governors of Anambra State ahead of broader discussions shaping Nigeria’s 2027 political landscape.

During the interview, Okoye stated, “There is no basis for comparing Obi with Soludo; their administrations are not the same.”

He made the remark while responding to questions on governance assessment and political performance narratives involving Peter Obi and Chukwuma Soludo.

He explained that while both leaders have governed Anambra State at different times, their policy priorities, economic contexts, and administrative approaches differ significantly, making direct comparisons, in his view, misleading.

Okoye noted that governance evaluation should be based on specific objectives, timeframes, and prevailing economic conditions rather than generalised political comparisons. He argued that each administration should be assessed within its own context.

He further stated that public discourse often simplifies complex governance issues into political arguments, which can distort objective evaluation of leadership performance.

The commentator added that both Obi and Soludo have contributed to Anambra State’s development in different ways, but emphasized that their governance styles and strategies reflect distinct political and administrative philosophies.

Okoye concluded that as political conversations intensify ahead of the 2027 elections, Nigerians should focus more on policy outcomes and measurable impact rather than personality-based comparisons between political figures.
