We've Been Traumatized, We Don’t Sleep and Every Day We Hear DSS Are Coming to Raid Our Home — El-Rufai’s Wife Cries Out

Wife of former Kaduna State governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, Asia Ahmad El-Rufai, has spoken publicly about what she described as the emotional trauma and fear her family has allegedly been facing amid increasing pressure and threats.

Speaking during an interview with Viable TV, Asia El-Rufai said her family has been living in constant anxiety over repeated reports that security agencies could raid their home at any moment.

According to her, the situation has created emotional distress and sleepless nights for members of the family.

The former governor’s wife questioned why her husband continues to face what she termed intimidation outside the courtroom, insisting that if he has committed any offence, the matter should be handled legally through the courts.

According to Asia El-Rufai, members of the family now live with fear daily because of alleged threats and constant monitoring.

“As family members, we have been traumatized enough. We don’t sleep. Every day we get a threat that DSS is coming to raid your house, ICPC is coming to raid your house, police are coming to raid your house. You are being followed. What is this?” she said.

Her comments have since generated reactions online, with supporters of the former governor expressing concern over the claims, while others called for due process and transparency regarding any investigations involving public officials.

Asia El-Rufai maintained that her family respects the law and believes any allegations against her husband should be addressed openly in court rather than through intimidation or fear.

“If Malam has done something, let the court decide. We are law-abiding citizens,” she added.

She further stated that the family is only demanding fairness and justice, arguing that the legal process should be allowed to determine whether the former governor is guilty or innocent of any allegations brought against him.

According to her, public institutions should focus on lawful procedures instead of actions that could create fear among family members.

“All we want is for the law courts to decide whether he is guilty or not. Let the trial hold. Let the world witness whether justice is being done,” she stated during the interview.

Asia El-Rufai also suggested that there may be deeper political reasons behind the alleged pressure facing her husband, although she did not provide further details regarding the claim.

Her remarks come at a time when political tensions and debates surrounding key Nigerian political figures continue attracting national attention ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Supporters of Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai have argued that the former Kaduna governor is being unfairly targeted because of his political influence and outspoken nature. Critics, however, insist that no public official should be above investigation if there are legitimate concerns requiring legal scrutiny.

The interview has since sparked wider conversations on social media regarding the role of security agencies, political pressure, and the importance of allowing the judiciary to independently handle sensitive cases involving politicians.

Observers say the situation also reflects growing political realignments and tensions within Nigeria’s political landscape as preparations for future elections continue to gather momentum.

Despite the controversy, Asia El-Rufai insisted that her family remains committed to lawful conduct and only seeks justice through proper legal channels rather than intimidation or harassment.
