As reported by Vanguard on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, Wike made these comments after evaluating various projects in preparation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s two-year anniversary in office.
He stated that citizens are starting to notice the improvements brought by governance, which include better roads, street lighting, water supply projects, and housing upgrades, particularly in satellite towns and rural areas.
He mentioned that over 20 projects would soon be ready for inauguration, covering roads in the Bwari, Kuje, Gwagwalada, and AMAC Area Councils.
He also pointed out that neighborhoods outside the central area are finally receiving the focus that earlier administrations neglected.
Additionally, the minister examined the renovation of the Appeal Court Complex in Dakibiyu, the judges’ quarters in Katampe, and a new site for relocating the Apo Mechanic Village. He observed that most of these initiatives are nearing completion.
At the Apo relocation site, Wike reported that roads and street lighting had been finished, while arrangements are being made for a police station and housing for officers.
When discussing the 2027 elections, Wike stated that the recent results from the Area Council elections indicated increasing support for the APC in regions where the party had previously faced challenges.
He claimed that the continuous infrastructure development is positively influencing public perception throughout the FCT.
He expressed, "What possible reasons do people have now to avoid voting for Mr. President? How many governments in the past have successfully made a difference in satellite towns like this administration is?"
