2016: I Sat In Lawal's Office And He Told Me Get Up, Who Do You Think You Are? —Ojudu

Former Special Adviser to ex-Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Babafemi Ojudu, has recounted an incident involving former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, shortly after he was appointed into government in 2016.

Speaking during an interview with Channels Television, Ojudu narrated how he visited Lawal’s office to formally report and pay a courtesy call after assuming his role as Special Adviser.

According to him, he had known Lawal for many years and considered him a friend before they both took up positions in the administration.

Ojudu said that upon entering the office, he sat down in front of Lawal, expecting a friendly reception.

However, he claimed that the former SGF immediately instructed him to stand up, reminding him that although they were friends, official protocol had changed their relationship within the government hierarchy.

According to Ojudu, Lawal told him that he could not simply walk into his office and take a seat because he was now his superior in the administration.

The former presidential aide said he was taken aback by the remark and decided to leave the office immediately.

Recounting the encounter, Ojudu said, “When I was appointed Special Adviser, I went to his office to report to him.

Having known him for years, I sat down in front of him and he said, ‘Get up, who do you think you are?

We are friends but I am now your boss, you can't come to my office and sit down.’ I walked out of his office and I never went back to him again.”

The revelation has attracted attention on social media, with many Nigerians reacting to Ojudu’s account of the incident and discussing issues of leadership, respect, and workplace relationships within public service.
