Atiku Himself Knew That The ADC Was Not Set Up For Him; It Was An Already Existing Party-Okonkwo

During an interview featured on SYMFONI TV's official YouTube channel on June 3, 2026, a leading figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kenneth Okonkwo, clarified that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar never viewed the party as a platform established to advance his personal political ambitions.

Okonkwo rejected suggestions that Atiku had taken over the ADC, emphasizing that the party had been in existence long before the formation of the current opposition alliance.

He explained that the ADC was already a recognized political organization before several high-profile politicians joined it.

According to Okonkwo, Atiku understood from the outset that the party was not created specifically for him.

He noted that the former vice president entered the ADC under the same conditions as other members of the coalition, without any special privileges or arrangements.

Speaking further, Okonkwo stated that Atiku's emergence as the party's presidential flagbearer was the outcome of extensive political consultations and grassroots engagement across the country.

He explained that Atiku personally met with party leaders and officials in various states to secure their backing ahead of the primary election.

The ADC stalwart described Atiku as a committed politician who approaches elections with seriousness and determination.

He argued that the former vice president's success in clinching the party's ticket was driven by the support he earned from party members and stakeholders nationwide rather than by any prearranged agreement within the party.
