According to a report by Daily Post on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, Senator Adams Oshiomhole has called for the immediate arrest of former Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Mele Kyari, over allegations of corruption and financial misconduct during his tenure at the national oil company.
The senator made the demand on Wednesday while addressing issues related to accountability and oversight in the management of public resources.
His remarks came amid ongoing scrutiny of the operations and financial activities of the state-owned energy company.
Oshiomhole argued that there was a need for thorough accountability regarding the management of funds under Kyari’s leadership.
He stressed that the persistent attacks have placed considerable pressure on affected communities and highlighted the need for immediate and decisive action by relevant authorities.
Moro specifically drew attention to the killing of one of his constituents, identified as Mr. Ujema Emi, a public health worker.
He informed the Senate that the deceased was allegedly attacked and killed by suspected armed herders.
The senator described the incident as tragic and disturbing, noting that it reflects the broader insecurity challenges confronting communities within his constituency.
He urged security agencies to investigate the matter thoroughly and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
The lawmaker further stated that the incident has intensified concerns among residents who have repeatedly called for stronger security measures.
According to him, many communities in the district continue to experience attacks that threaten lives and livelihoods.
He maintained that the safety of citizens should remain a priority and urged the relevant authorities to deploy the necessary resources to protect vulnerable communities and prevent further loss of life.
Moro also emphasized the importance of a coordinated response involving security agencies and government institutions.
He argued that sustained efforts are required to address the root causes of insecurity and restore confidence among residents.
The senator noted that the recurring attacks have affected not only individuals and families but also essential services in the area, as workers and residents increasingly face risks while carrying out their daily activities.
Addressing the Senate, Moro recounted the circumstances surrounding the death of the health worker and appealed for urgent action to improve security in the district.
He said, “One of my constituents, Ujema Emi, a public health worker, was murdered in cold blood. Ujema Emi was reportedly ambushed, killed and beheaded. The severed head was taken away by the assailants.”
