Former Kano State Governor and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has stated that many residents of Kano State judge the administration of President Bola Tinubu based on the actions and public image of two prominent political figures in the state — former governor Abdullahi Ganduje and the current governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Speaking during an interview on Arise TV, Kwankwaso explained that ordinary citizens often assess a president’s performance through the conduct and influence of local political leaders rather than through direct interaction with the federal government.
According to him, the perception of President Tinubu among Kano residents is closely tied to how they view Ganduje and Governor Yusuf.
He stressed that the same political reality exists across several states in the country, where local leaders significantly shape public opinion about the presidency.
Kwankwaso also rejected the widespread assumption that political power automatically guarantees complete control over the electorate.
He argued that being a governor no longer means a politician can dictate outcomes without resistance from the people.
According to him, Nigerians have become more politically aware and are paying closer attention to governance and leadership.
He further noted that the political atmosphere in the country has changed considerably, with many citizens now eager for alternatives and less willing to accept existing political structures without question.
Speaking on elections, Kwankwaso acknowledged that financial resources remain an important aspect of political campaigns and mobilization.
