Igboho Confronts Fulani Elders In Hometown, Demands Release Of Kidnapped Pregnant Woman, Others Within 2 Hours

According to TheCable News, Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has issued a two-hour ultimatum to Fulani leaders in Igboho, Oyo State, demanding the immediate release of residents allegedly abducted by suspected kidnappers.

Igboho handed down the ultimatum on Saturday while addressing Fulani elders, traditional chiefs and security operatives at the palace of the town's monarch in the Oke-Ogun area of the state.

Speaking in Yoruba, the activist accused suspected Fulani kidnappers of carrying out a series of abductions in the area, including an incident in which a pregnant woman was reportedly killed.

"You cannot be kidnapping people in our fatherland while we fold our arms and do nothing. I am a son of the soil. This is my fatherland," he said.

According to him, the latest victims include a woman, her children and a sibling who were abducted overnight by armed men.

Igboho alleged that the kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of ₦300 million before reducing it to ₦150 million, insisting that no payment would be made for the victims' freedom.

"I am giving them two hours. They must return the woman, her children and sibling whom they kidnapped overnight. If I don't see them within those two hours, we will clash," he warned.

The activist further threatened to storm the forest reserve where he claimed the abductors are camped if the victims are not released within the stipulated time.

"That forest reserve where they camp, we are coming there. We will invade that forest. Since they have said they won't live with us in peace, we too will fight with everything we have," he added.

Igboho urged Fulani leaders in the community to prevail on those responsible for the abductions to release the victims, alleging that the perpetrators are known within the area.

He explained that he had previously refrained from intervening because community elders had not formally raised concerns but said the latest incident had become unbearable.

The meeting was attended by the traditional ruler of Igboho, community chiefs and officers from the divisional police command, while scores of residents gathered outside the palace to witness the deliberations.

The development comes amid heightened concerns over insecurity in Oyo State, including the continued captivity of dozens of schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area.

Earlier this month, Igboho accused political actors of playing what he described as a dangerous "game" with insecurity and vowed to expose individuals he claimed were backing terrorist activities in the country.
