Lere Olayinka Mocks Seyi Makinde After His New Party, APM Scores 59 Votes In Ekiti Gov'ship Election

Media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Lere Olayinka, has taken a swipe at Seyi Makinde following the performance of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in the just-concluded Ekiti State governorship election.

Olayinka, in a post shared on his social media handle, mocked the party after it reportedly secured only 59 votes in the election.

"Seyi Makinde's APoMu party had 59 (Fifty Nine) votes in the Ekiti State governorship election.

"Na on top that 59 votes Ibadan Gomina General wan take contest and win the Presidential election like this?" he wrote, accompanied by laughing emojis.

The comment appeared to reference speculations in some political circles about Makinde's potential national political ambitions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Olayinka's remarks have since generated reactions online, with supporters and critics of the Oyo State governor offering differing views on the significance of the APM's performance in Ekiti.

While some social media users argued that the result reflects the party's limited presence in the state, others maintained that governorship elections in individual states may not necessarily determine a politician's prospects in a future presidential contest.
