Massive Explosion Shook The Southern Lebanese Village As Israel Destroyed A 200-metre Tunnel

A powerful explosion has shaken the southern Lebanese village of Majdal Zoun after Israel’s military announced that it had destroyed what it described as a major Hezbollah underground tunnel. 

The blast, described by local residents as a massive detonation, raised fresh concerns over the fragile security situation along the Israel-Lebanon border.

According to Al Jazeera English, the target was a Hezbollah tunnel stretching approximately 200 metres underground. 

Israeli officials said the structure was part of the armed group’s military infrastructure and posed a threat to Israel’s security. The operation was presented as a measure aimed at preventing Hezbollah from rebuilding its capabilities near the border.

The explosion occurred despite ongoing diplomatic efforts to maintain a US-mediated ceasefire framework between Israel and Lebanon, which was designed to reduce hostilities and create conditions for a longer-term resolution. 

The incident has intensified concerns that military actions could undermine attempts to stabilize the region.

Residents in Majdal Zoun reported feeling the impact of the blast, with the explosion sending shockwaves through the surrounding area. 

The village, located in southern Lebanon, has been among the areas affected by repeated exchanges of fire between Israel and Hezbollah during months of heightened tensions.

Hezbollah has not immediately confirmed details about the alleged tunnel or issued a full response to Israel’s claim. The group has previously rejected Israeli accusations regarding its military activities and has accused Israel of violating Lebanese sovereignty.
