Ahanotu argued that the Labour Party had several potential aspirants before Obi joined the party, insisting that the decision-making process involved multiple considerations, including timing, visibility, and political strategy.
Speaking during the interview, Ahanotu stated, “Obi was the last person to approach the LP in 2023; we had five aspirants who could have done better.”
He asserts that the party's leadership and members invested heavily in campaigning across different LGAs in order to bolster support for the current governor in the run-up to the election.
Furthermore, the senator was optimistic that, thanks to the party's extensive planning and groundwork, Oyebanji would be able to earn another term in office.

He stressed that the APC's organised outreach had come to a stop and that party members had given their all during the campaign, meeting with localities and delivering their platform to voters.
According to Fasuyi, the party is currently in a waiting phase after months of political activities, consultations, and mobilisation attempts.
He made it clear that the APC had been working tirelessly for months and was now waiting for the results of the election to reflect those efforts.
"We completed that on Thursday," he stated. We must not repeat that mistake. We are now patiently awaiting the fruition of our labours and prayers over the past three or four months.
