Oyo: If You Move In to Wipe Out The Terrorists, You Might End Up Wiping Out The Children —Akpabio

In a video shared by TV Platinum on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, President of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has reacted to the recent abductions in Oyo State.

The incident involved armed attackers who stormed three schools in Oriire Local Government Area, including Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele, and Yawota Baptist schools, abducting several pupils and teachers.

The attack has continued to generate nationwide concern over the safety of schools and rural communities.

Akpabio extended condolences to the families of the victims and assured them that the government is working to secure the safe release of those abducted.

He emphasized that security operations require caution in order to avoid endangering the lives of the hostages during rescue efforts.

He noted that distinguishing between terrorists and victims in such complex operations can be difficult, warning that aggressive military action could unintentionally harm those being held captive.

In his words: “If you move in there to wipe out the terrorists, you may end up wiping out the children.”

His remarks come amid ongoing rescue operations and renewed debate over the most effective strategies for handling mass abductions and insurgent attacks across the country.
