‘We’re Not a Political Tool-Ohaneze Ndi Igbo Deny Obi And Warn Politicians Over fake release`

The apex Igbo socio-cultural group issued a strong denial on Tuesday, saying it has no connection to the statement currently making the rounds on social media.

In a release signed by National Publicity Secretary Dr Ezechi Chukwu, Ohanaeze said the views do not represent its position, mandate, or official communication.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide hereby categorically disassociates itself from the said statement in its entirety.

The position expressed therein by these subversive elements does not represent the view, mandate, or official communication of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide,” the statement read.

The group, led by President-General Senator Azuta Mbata, stressed that it remains non-partisan and will not be dragged into politics.

“Ohanaeze is not and will never function as a political appendage, electoral proxy, or spokesperson for any political party or individual, regardless of affiliation or aspiration,” it said.

Ohanaeze condemned what it described as repeated attempts by “subversive elements” to exploit its name for personal gain and political leverage. It called the actions “unfortunate, misleading and unacceptable.”

The organization urged the public and the media to ignore any statement not issued through its recognized leadership. It confirmed that Prince Okey Nwadinobi and Emeka Sibeudu remain the Deputy President-General and Secretary-General respectively.

“Rely only on verified communications issued through official channels to avoid further confusion,” the statement added.
