Will People Survive? Panic as Europe Faces Its Worst Heatwave Yet; Temperatures Hit 40°C as Roads Melt, Traffic Lights Warp, and Millions Struggle to Cope

Several European countries are battling one of the most severe heatwaves in recent history, with temperatures soaring beyond 40°C and causing widespread disruption to daily life. 

The prolonged extreme heat is affecting public health, transport systems, roads, electricity networks, and other critical infrastructure across the continent.

In Germany, the intense temperatures caused serious damage to parts of the A2 motorway, a major highway linking Berlin with western regions of the country.

Sections of the road cracked and broke apart due to the heat, forcing police to close several interchanges after they were deemed unsafe for motorists.
