A woman who survived a bandit attack in Katsina State has shared the heartbreaking story of how armed men killed her husband and son before abducting five of her children, including her 19-month-old baby.
Speaking during a town hall meeting featured in a video shared by News Central TV, the woman recounted the traumatic experience alongside other victims of insecurity.
She said that when the attackers stormed their home, her son ran to her for help. In an attempt to save him, she tried to help him climb onto the roof so he could hide from the gunmen.
According to her, the attackers entered the house and ordered her to stop helping the boy. When she refused, determined to protect her son, the gunmen shot him twice, killing him on the spot.
She added that the attackers also killed her husband during the assault, leaving the family devastated.
After the killings, the gunmen abducted five of her children, including her youngest child, who was just 19 months old at the time.
The attackers also set several houses on fire before leaving the community, destroying property and forcing many residents to flee.
Recounting the incident, she said, "After I helped him climb up, they shot him twice. They killed my husband, they killed my child, and then they went away with five of my kids, including my 19-month-old baby."
