He explained that the continued spread of insecurity across different parts of the country has made the crisis feel less distant, noting that the effects are now touching areas and people that are closely connected to him, which underscores the severity of the situation as he understands it.
The cleric also expressed concern that individuals responsible for acts of terrorism and banditry appear to operate without significant restriction, stressing that despite the widespread impact of their activities, many of them are still able to move around freely.
Adeboye made these remarks while speaking at the US-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award gala, an event organized by the Save Nigeria Group and held in Washington, where religious and national issues affecting Nigeria were part of the discussion.
During his address, he revealed that he had engaged President Bola Tinubu and the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who is also a pastor within the RCCG, in conversations centered on the growing security challenges facing Nigeria and the need for urgent action.
He further noted that he urged the Nigerian leadership to issue firm directives to military authorities to intensify efforts against insecurity, adding that he proposed a strict timeline of 90 days within which decisive results should be achieved to address the worsening situation.
“Wipe out this rubbish or resign. Then take care of the supporters and the sponsors,” he said.
