Today's Headline: I've Activated Strategy To Secure Kanu Release-Otti, Tinubu Hails Ewi Of Ado Ekiti

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State says plans are in motion to secure the release of convicted Indigenous People of Biafra, IPoB, leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

Otti said he had already activated a strategy to secure Kanu’s final freedom which, according to him, he had earlier initiated during Kanu’s trial.

The governor, in a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Ferdinand Ekeoma, said: “While Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is free to appeal his conviction, I’m happy to inform you that I have activated and will continue to work on the already agreed strategy until his freedom is secured.”

President Bola Tinubu has paid glowing tributes to the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, His Imperial Majesty Oba Rufus Adeyemo Adejugbe Aladesanmi III, describing his leadership as an inspiration to Nigerians as the monarch marks his 80th birthday and 35th coronation anniversary.

The statement, issued Sunday in Abuja, was signed by Yomi Odunuga, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. 

President Tinubu was represented at the celebration by the SGF, Senator George Akume.

The President noted that the platinum milestones were moments of immense pride not only for Ado-Ekiti and the people of Ekiti State but also for the entire nation, which holds Oba Adejugbe in high esteem for his exemplary leadership, refined wisdom, and deep cultural rootedness.

President Bola Tinubu has reiterated the commitment and determination of his administration to end terrorism and banditry in Northern Nigeria.

The President said no part of the country would be allowed to bleed while the Federal Government watches.

Tinubu made this statement on Saturday at the 25th anniversary of the Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, in Kaduna.

The President was represented at the event by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.

LP chair condemns Niger schoolchildren abduction, laments insecurity

The Labour Party Interim National Chairman, Senator Nenadi Usman, on Sunday condemned the recent mass abduction of schoolchildren in Niger state, describing the incident as a painful reflection of the country’s worsening security crisis.

This was disclosed in a statement issued in Abuja titled ‘Niger Pupils Kidnap: My heart bleeds.’

The attack, which occurred within days after a similar abduction in Kebbi State has intensified concerns over the safety of schools in Nigeria’s northern region.

Recall that in Kebbi State, armed men stormed the Government Secondary School, Maga, abducting several students.

Trump seeks jail time for democrats over military massage

US President Donald Trump said late Saturday that six Democrats involved in a video calling on military officers to refuse illegal commands “should be in jail.”

The Republican leader’s remarks came after he accused the Democrat lawmakers on Friday of “seditious behaviour, punishable by death.”

Democrats slammed Trump’s comments as “absolutely vile” threats against the six senators and representatives, all of whom have served in the military or the intelligence community.
