"I Really Regret Convincing My Supporters To Vote For Martins Amaewhule; He Believes In His Oga– Solomon Eke

In the midst of rising political tensions in Rivers State, Hon. Solomon Eke has made a public statement expressing regret for having previously backed Martins Amaewhule.

In response to the impeachment action brought by members of the Rivers State House of Assembly aligned with Nyesom Wike against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy over charges of severe misconduct, he spoke in an interview on News Central TV.

Eke stated he was upset that Amaewhule, whom he formerly urged his followers to support, had not behaved independently.

In his view, the legislator is now more accountable to a prominent person than to the citizens who voted for him.

An elected representative is expected to think for himself and support the collective will of his constituents, not the interests of his political sponsors, he emphasized.

He brought to Amaewhule's attention that his main duty at the Rivers State House of Assembly is to represent the will of the constituents who elected him.

Eke cautioned that there are repercussions for going against the interests of the populace, and that a political career may suffer irreversible harm as a result.

In addition to that, the grassroots politician claimed that Amaewhule had lost the confidence of the people he represents.

Because of increasing voter dissatisfaction, Amaewhule would have a hard time winning elections in his own region if they were held today, he said. According to Eke, this was a result of what he called a betrayal of public trust.

I regret convincing my supporters to vote for Martins Amaewhule, as he put it. He is a guy with no mind of his own. He trusts his oga.
