If You Rig Election The Way You Normally Rig It Before, You May Have Trump Coming To Get You —Pearse

Dr. Adetokunbo Pearse, a senior PDP leader, has strongly warned President Bola Tinubu’s government that attempts to rig the 2027 elections could lead to actions by US President Donald Trump against those responsible.

He stressed that the period of unchecked electoral manipulation in Nigeria is over and urged officials to exercise caution in the lead-up to the 2027 polls.

In an Arise News interview, Pearse dismissed worries about the PDP’s shrinking number of governors, noting that holding governorships does not automatically guarantee a presidential win.

He referenced the 2023 elections, explaining that even with many governors, the APC lost in numerous states, while Peter Obi triumphed in several states without any sitting governors supporting him.

Pearse further insisted that recent party defections have not weakened the PDP’s grassroots support.

In Delta and Akwa Ibom, he noted, former governors who left the PDP failed to influence voters, highlighting that citizens remain loyal to the party itself rather than individual politicians.

He affirmed that the PDP is stable and well-structured following its November 2025 national convention in Ibadan.

However, he identified INEC as the main challenge, accusing the electoral body of favoring the ruling party and acknowledging expelled members.

Warning that flawed elections endanger Nigeria’s democracy, Pearse said the world is watching closely.

He remarked, “Rigging elections as done in the past could have serious consequences you may even face intervention from Trump. The ICC is involved. The 2027 elections will not be like previous ones.”
