Ja’afar Sani Bello, a former PDP governorship aspirant in Kano State, has stated that Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso turned against those who once supported his political rise.
He revealed that former President Olusegun Obasanjo had disclosed that Kwankwaso requested the removal of the late Musa Gwadabe from his ministerial position.
In an interview with TRUST TV, Bello expressed disappointment over how Kwankwaso distanced himself from key political figures who played a significant role in his emergence, including Senator Hamisu Musa and Musa Gwadabe.
He noted that the situation is unfortunate and not something to be widely publicized, but it remains a well-known fact among political circles.
Bello said that Kwankwaso even made Gwadabe’s removal a condition for supporting Obasanjo’s re-election bid in 2003, a move that raised concerns about loyalty and political gratitude.
He said, "One of the things that is clearly known, which was even said by the former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, was that Kwankwaso approached him, saying he wanted him to remove Musa Gwadabe from the ministerial position he was occupying at that time.
And, in fact, at one point in time, he made it a condition for him to support President Olusegun Obasanjo for the 2003 elections."
