‎Tinubu Is Leaning More Towards Empowering The South-West Not Even The South As A Whole —Tambuwal

‎According to a report by Punch, on Saturday January 10, 2026, former Speaker of the House of Representatives and ex-Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, has criticized the federal government for favoring certain regions over others.

‎He said the administration under President Bola Tinubu focuses more on the South-West, rather than addressing the needs of the entire South or the country as a whole.

‎He added that even within the South-West, Lagos State appears to receive more attention and resources than other states.

Tambuwal warned that this regional favoritism is creating deeper divisions and widening fault lines in the country.

‎He stressed the need for a government that represents all Nigerians fairly and ensures equal opportunities for every region.

‎He stated that such regional imbalances in government projects and appointments are causing growing concern among citizens.

‎Tambuwal noted that failing to address these divisions could weaken national unity and hinder development.

‎He stated that all regions should have equal access to federal opportunities, programs, and benefits.

‎He pointed out that addressing these issues is critical for the long-term growth of the country.

‎He criticised what he described as the current federal administration’s ethnic chauvinism.

‎“President Bola Tinubu is leaning more towards empowering the South-West, not even the South as a whole.

Even within the South-West, people say it is about his Lagos State. The existing fault lines are widening, and the President needs to run a truly Nigerian government,” he stated.
