Emmanuel Ogebe, a lawyer, has stated that he was shocked when the Court of Appeal overturned the death sentence imposed on Major Hamza Al-Mustapha who was accused of being involved in the murder of Alhaja Kudirat Abiola
In an interview with Channels Television, Ogebe stated that Major Al-Mustapha was so feared during General Sani Abacha’s military regime that even high-ranking generals were forced to kneel before him, begging him for mercy.
He said Mustapha was a "phenomenon of dread and horror" in Nigeria under Abacha's regime
Ogebe also stated that Al-Mustapha was the one who abducted and tortured him during Abacha’s rule. He said that despite all this, he has personally forgiven Al-Mustapha
In Ogebe's words: "We were very shocked to see that the court of appeal overturn the death sentence imposed on Major Mustapha because of the atrocities he perpetrated.
Let us remember that he was the one that created Nigeria's weeping Generals. Generals were kneeling down on the ground, begging Mustapha because he had become a phenomenon of dread and horror in the country"
