The Day Fubara Was Declared Leader of APC, He Should Have Organized the Mother of all Rallies—Dahiru

Majeed Dahiru, a political analyst, shared his views on how Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara could have leveraged his position as party leader to strengthen his political influence.

Speaking in a video posted on Symphoni, Dahiru suggested that the moment Fubara was recognized as leader presented a strategic opportunity that was missed.

According to him, "Look, the day he was declared leader of the party by the national chairman and then the secretary and many other stakeholders, the kind of rally Fubara should have organized in court should have been the mother of all rallies, where his allies like Secondus, Lee Maeba, and the other group would have decamped with him to the APC."

Dahiru argued that organizing a massive rally at that moment could have solidified Fubara’s leadership, attracted key allies, and sent a strong signal of unity and power within the party.

He emphasized that political momentum is often fleeting, and strategic moves at crucial times can define a leader’s legacy.

He also noted that such public demonstrations of support are not just symbolic but practical tools in Nigerian politics, capable of influencing negotiations and reshaping alliances.

By failing to act decisively, Dahiru believes Fubara may have missed an opportunity to consolidate his influence fully.

Looking ahead, Dahiru stressed that leaders must recognize the importance of timing and spectacle in politics, particularly when aiming to expand their base or bring former opponents into alignment.

For Fubara, the lesson, according to the analyst, is clear: political opportunities must be seized with both strategy and visibility.
