In a recent video shared on his official Facebook page on Friday, May 22, 2026, Nigerian cleric Primate Elijah Ayodele made a strong statement about Nigeria’s political leadership and citizens’ expectations of divine intervention in governance.
The founder of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church spoke in a brief message focused on the country’s political situation, leadership challenges, and growing calls for change amid economic hardship and social difficulties.
During the video, Primate Ayodele said God would not intervene to remove Nigeria’s president despite the frustration and dissatisfaction being expressed by many citizens.
According to him, although Nigerians may be praying for political change because of the country’s challenges, such prayers would not receive divine approval.
He stated, “You know what? God will not help Nigeria to remove the president.”
The cleric further explained that, based on what he described as a spiritual message, God would not remove elected leaders simply because citizens were demanding it through prayers or public pressure.
He added, “God said, ‘I will not remove any president for you Nigerians,’” insisting that the statement reflected divine instruction on the nation’s leadership situation.
Primate Ayodele also said prayers asking God to remove leaders from office would not bring the expected outcome.
He noted that despite public concerns over economic hardship, insecurity, and political tensions, God had allegedly made His position clear.
According to him, “God said your prayers will not be answered when you say, ‘God, remove this man.’” He specifically mentioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying that God would not remove him from office.
The remarks have since sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some people viewing them as a call for patience and reflection, while others questioned the place of religious prophecies in political discussions and governance.
The statement comes amid ongoing national debates over leadership, accountability, and Nigeria’s economic challenges.
