Federal lawmaker Honourable Ikenga Ugochinyere has condemned attempts by a group of former lawmakers seeking court orders to deregister some political parties after candidates have already emerged from primary elections.
Speaking in media coverage by Arise TV, Ugochinyere said, "People are already in an electoral process.
After candidates have emerged, thousands of them, for Senate, for Reps, for governorship, for presidential, and so on and so forth and somebody is in a court seeking to deregister those entire political parties.
What kind of anarchy do you think you want the country to go through?"
Ugochinyere acknowledged President Tinubu's own history as a democrat who fought hard for the restoration of civil rule, expressing doubt that the president would want his legacy tainted by the collapse of the very democratic structures he once struggled to protect.
He noted, however, that overzealous politicians driven by personal ambition and hunger for power were hiding behind the president's name to cause damage that could affect the Nation.
