A member of the NDC, Ifeanyi Igwe, has said he does not believe the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, will remain in the position after the 2027 general election.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Igwe said the NDC believes Nigeria needs a new direction and fresh leadership in 2027. He expressed strong support for Peter Obi, describing him as the leader capable of changing the country’s political situation.
Igwe said many Nigerians are becoming more determined to vote for leaders they believe can improve the economy and governance. According to him, Obi’s popularity across the country could make a major impact during the next presidential election.
Despite his comments about Wike’s future, Igwe said he is willing to work with whoever becomes FCT minister after 2027. He explained that cooperation among political leaders is important for development in the Federal Capital Territory, regardless of party differences.
He added that meaningful progress in the FCT can only happen when leaders work together for the benefit of residents and the country as a whole.
In his words, "For now, Wike is the FCT Minister. I don't see him as the next Minister of FCT by 2027, the NDC is the next big thing, Peter Obi is coming."
