In Terms Of Education, I’ve Been To The Best Schools In The World — Peter Obi

Peter Obi, a former presidential candidate for the Labour Party, has emphasised that Nigeria needs leaders with real-world business expertise who can create wealth and manage the economy well.

Instead of focusing on redistribution of wealth, he argues that the nation needs leaders who can create prosperity and manage resources sustainably.

In an interview that aired on Thursday, May 14, 2026, on News Central TV, Obi made the comments while talking about economic production, education, and government.

Entrepreneurship and trade, according to the former governor of Anambra State, are two of the world's most difficult occupations due to the high levels of self-control, strategic thinking, and perseverance required.

You won't find a more challenging profession than trading. "Everyone would be trading and making money if it was easy," Obi said.

Obi went on to boast about his academic accomplishments and his involvement in many prestigious leadership and executive programs during the interview. He admitted to having studied at prestigious universities including Cambridge, Oxford, and the London School of Economics.

"I can assure you that I have attended some of the most prestigious educational institutions on the planet," he boasted.

Also revealed by the ex-presidential candidate was his completion of professional programs at INSEAD, Columbia University, and Harvard University, among others. I've gone to Switzerland, as well as Harvard, Columbia, and INSEAD. "I can continue indefinitely," Obi echoed.

Despite his background in academia, Obi insisted that books can't buy you success in the business world or in managing your resources wisely. A leader must have both theoretical knowledge and real-world expertise, he stressed.

Regarding my schooling, I have completed the necessary steps. However, he emphasised that teaching is distinct from actually making something.

By the end of his speech, Obi had argued that the absence of leadership in Nigeria is the country's worst problem since it hinders productivity, resource management, and long-term planning.

According to him, the current leadership of Nigeria must be able to generate wealth for the country rather than just distribute it.

He went on to say that the country needs leaders who can effectively manage its resources and ensure a prosperous future for generations to come.
