NDC: I Don’t Care Who You Bring; Support Your Peter Obi, And I Will Support My Atiku -Momodu Reveals

In a recent interview on Arise TV, ADC chieftain and veteran journalist Dele Momodu strongly defended the presidential ambition of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar amid growing debates within the opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 general election.

Momodu spoke extensively about the internal disagreements surrounding zoning, coalition politics, and the rising influence of supporters of Peter Obi.

During the interview, Momodu stated, “I don’t care who you bring; support your Peter Obi, and I will support my Atiku,” while responding to analysts who suggested that Atiku should step aside for a southern candidate.

He insisted that every politician has the constitutional right to contest elections and argued that no individual should be pressured out of the race because of public sentiment or online campaigns.

The ADC chieftain criticized what he described as attempts to reduce the 2027 presidential election to emotional politics rather than strategic political calculations.

According to him, elections in Nigeria are determined by structure, alliances, and regional arithmetic, not social media enthusiasm.

He stressed that opposition parties must focus on building strong national support if they truly intend to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

Momodu also questioned the growing excitement surrounding the proposed alliance between Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. He argued that many supporters were overlooking the political realities and voting patterns from previous elections. According to him, Nigerians should avoid assuming that a coalition automatically guarantees victory at the polls.

Speaking further, Momodu maintained that Atiku remains one of the most experienced politicians in the opposition and has every right to pursue his ambition.

He stated that those supporting Obi are equally free to campaign for their preferred candidate, just as Atiku’s loyalists will continue supporting him.

He concluded by warning that internal divisions within opposition parties could ultimately strengthen the ruling APC if political actors fail to unite around a workable strategy before the 2027 election season fully begins.
