NDC: Up Till Today, I Find It Difficult To Understand How Peter Obi Does Some Of His Things — Tanko

In a recent video shared on SYMFONI TV, Yunusa Tanko, a Global Leader of the Obidient Movement, spoke on political mobilisation, grassroots organisation, and the leadership style of former presidential candidate Peter Obi ahead of future elections in Nigeria.

During the event, Tanko stated, “Up till today, I find it difficult to understand how Peter Obi does some of his things.” He made the remark while highlighting what he described as Obi’s unusual approach to leadership, especially in relation to personal sacrifice and public service decisions.

Tanko explained that his statement was based on accounts and personal experiences he said reflect Obi’s consistent commitment to humanitarian causes, education, and national development.

According to him, Obi’s actions often go beyond what many politicians typically do, particularly in terms of prioritising public interest over personal comfort or material gain.

He said the former Anambra State governor continues to inspire supporters within the Obidient Movement because of what they perceive as his discipline, simplicity, and focus on long-term national development goals.

Tanko further noted that Obi’s leadership style has remained a key reference point for many young Nigerians who are increasingly questioning traditional political practices and demanding more accountability from public office holders.

He explained that such behaviours have contributed to the growing appeal of the Obidient Movement, which he described as a platform driven by values rather than mere political ambition.

During the interview, Tanko also recounted an incident involving a luxury wristwatch reportedly gifted to Peter Obi, which he said was turned down due to concerns about its appropriateness.

He suggested that such decisions reflect Obi’s personal philosophy regarding material possessions and public perception, especially in a political environment where transparency and integrity are constantly scrutinised.

Tanko said the story of the wristwatch, whether fully understood by the public or not, demonstrates the kind of leadership mindset that continues to define Obi’s political identity.

He added that for many of Obi’s supporters, these actions reinforce the belief that leadership should be rooted in accountability, modesty, and service to the people rather than personal enrichment.

According to him, such examples are part of why Obi remains a central figure in national political discussions, particularly among citizens seeking alternative leadership models in Nigeria.

Tanko maintained that leadership credibility is built not only through speeches and policies but also through consistent personal choices that reflect integrity and discipline.

He stressed that the Obidient Movement continues to promote these values as part of its broader political vision ahead of future elections.

While acknowledging that political interpretations of such actions may differ, Tanko insisted that Obi’s approach has remained largely consistent over the years.

He also pointed out that the growing interest in Obi’s political style reflects a broader shift in public expectations regarding governance, accountability, and ethical leadership.
