Sowore Reacts After FFK Said Tinubu Has Approved His Request for a Redeployment From Germany

Omoyele Sowore has reacted to comments made by former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode concerning his diplomatic redeployment as Nigeria’s Ambassador-Designate to South Africa.

Sowore responded through his X account shortly after Fani-Kayode announced that Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved his transfer from an earlier diplomatic nomination to Germany.

In his reaction, Sowore questioned Fani-Kayode’s suitability for a diplomatic appointment and dismissed claims suggesting that any country had refused to accept him as an ambassador.

Earlier, Fani-Kayode had explained that he was first nominated for a diplomatic posting to Germany before requesting redeployment to South Africa.

According to him, the request was approved by Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, and later endorsed by President Tinubu.

The former minister stated that he preferred South Africa because of its political and economic importance within Africa, as well as the relationship between both countries.

He further explained that the redeployment involved a mutual arrangement with Sam Enang, who reportedly exchanged postings with him by moving from South Africa to Germany.

Fani-Kayode also rejected reports alleging that Germany refused to accept his appointment. He described those claims as false and damaging to both his reputation and the image of the Nigerian government.

According to him, the reports were intended to mislead the public and create unnecessary controversy around the diplomatic process.

He added that legal action had already been taken against the media organisation responsible for publishing the report.

The exchange between Sowore and Fani-Kayode has since attracted widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians discussing the controversy surrounding the ambassadorial appointment and the public disagreement between the two political figures.
